True or False: Senator Joseph McCarthy was an embittered fraud who recklessly accused people of Communist affiliations when in fact these people were innocent.

Well, we all know the answer to this don't we? We've seen movies like "Good Night and Good Luck" . Ever since we were school children we've read what a dark period in our history this was.

The only problem is..... McCarthy was right.

In a recently declassified document called The Venona Report, it has finally been revealed that our government had cracked the secret code the Soviets were using to communicate with their operatives in the U.S. When Senator McCarthy took someone to trial, he knew exactly what that person had done because he had seen and read the transcripts. He knew word for word what information had exchanged hands.

The problem was, he couldn't reveal any of this in court because the Soviets would instantly realize we had cracked their code!

This is an example of how the public is often completely wrong about an issue because the real information is kept classified for so long.

What does this all have to do with Margaret Thatcher? Did you notice she mentioned to the housewife that in about 30 years, when the information was declassified, everyone would know that England acted properly? Imagine how galling it must be for people in political office to know so much that they can never reveal. In perhaps another 15 years we can all read what Argentina was really up to, and understand why Margaret Thatcher gave the orders to sink their ship.

Watch that clip again, and think to yourself if it doesn't look like Thatcher would dearly love to be able to just reveal secret details she cannot divulge due to national security. You can tell she is on her guard not to slip up. She keeps repeating the same lines. To me, it looks like she had something very pressing on her mind, and was determined not to divulge it, as much as she would have liked to.

McCarthy was right. Thatcher was right. And if certain websites showing that Saddam removed his weapons to Syria are correct, Bush was right.

I don't think she got "owned" at all. It sounds very similar to the warnings that we gave Saddam and he chose to give us the finger. See how it turned out in both cases? Warning....Consequences.

Edit....
So sorry I responded to such an enlightened person.
