I'm quite sorry if you find some of my fellow Americans unlikable, but I don't judge a country by a handful of its citizens that I encounter. For instance, if you are Hispanic and are visiting border cities with Mexico, like El Paso, Laredo, Brownsville, San Diego etc, you may find some bitter Caucasians because they resent being turned away from jobs in the USA, because they don't speak Spanish.
This bitterness really is on a personal level and not a matter of course for Americans. If you are in the USA legally for vacation or work, most Americans say welcome to America and may even express an interest in learning about your culture.
Now if you expect every American to speak to you in Spanish, that may cause a little problem with your acceptance. When I was in France, I expected its citizens to speak French, Italy - Italian, Japan - Japanese, Korea - Korean, Philippines - Togalin, Germany - German, Mexico - Spanish. I would never be so rude as to expect the native citizens of those countries to assimilate to my culture.

I love the country, I hate our current government. Americans are not an evil lot, but we are culpable for having allowed a string of truly despicable human beings to perpetrate the Iraqi genocide that has been taking place since the Reagan Regime. The monstrous psychopaths now infesting the White House have taken malevolence to a whole new level. Let us remind ourselves that The White House belongs to us and that Bush serves us.
Bush and his rotten associates are guests in our home and ultimately, mere public servants.
