Whenever someone talks to me, even if they just say "hi", I usually can't think of anything to say and I just smile dumbly. If I'm around people I know, I'm really loud and lively. But around people I don't know so well, my voice goes all soft so I can hardly hear myself and it gets all scratchy like I've just woken up. And if someone asks me to hang out, especially if it's a guy, I usually make up some excuse so I can avoid any awkward situations. Is there something wrong with me? Can anyone help me, or am I a lost cause?

shy is cute and most people can figure that you are shy and that makes you more interesting. People love to challenge their ability to get to know the shy ones. You'll open up when comfortable and if they really think your worth it they will celebrate your uniqueness and pursue your hidden personality. Have fun with it shy one!

I think you might have some self confidence issues, which you probably know are not unusual for females. I don't know your age but you might want to consider counseling if it bothers you that much.

there is of course nothing wrong with you. you are simply shy. a good thing to do would be to go to a dance to meet other people, but always go where you have a friend handy, or go "hang out" with someone who asks you, but always have a friend handy when you go. works for me.

that is my advice
good day to you
