Tony Blair (the Blairina) is reported to have had a casual attiitude to cabinet meetings. He is very often seen on semi formal occiasions wearing a suit wilth no tie. I s this a sign of some irrresponsibly casual attitude to the affairs of state.?
Is Cameron unwise in follow that mode of dress, by beraying an attempt to imitate a previous unlamented Prime Minister.

Bliar should have worn a tie - it is a form of disrespect to office that he didn't do so. The office of Prime Minister is bigger than the person who occupies it.

OK so Margaret Thatcher didn't need to wear one, but she was a better bloke than Bliar (sic)!

OK I think it all started to become fashionable when a Greek low cost airline tycoon with no sense of fashion appeared on TV, many of our budding tycoons adopted the fashion perhaps believing it would help them to become overnight millionaires, aped him. Not wearing a tie with a shirt designed to be worn with a tie looks scruffy and unfinished too me. But otherwise a shirt without a tie is fine
but its just a matter of taste

Personally, I think that it does indeed show a casual attitude. Your appearance is very important to others, whether you like it or not. If Blair wishes to appeal to the lower class citizens he should do so in other ways.

I wouldnt have cared less if he wore his birthday suit, as long as he improved society then he can wear what he wants.
Trouble is, he descended the world into chaos, and whether he wore a tie or not would not have changed that. He was incompetant.

No need to worry about that now. All the damage he has created has been done.
