No idea -- but if gap teeth are considered to be a sign of beauty by certain people, then it is; whereas other people would not care either way. Hence, the expression, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

I dunno, for sure, but the gap runs in my maternal side of my family, and that is also the side of my family that has African American...When I got my braces, my grandmother, who says the gap is "good luck" begged me not to let my gap close all the way...and she claims not to be superstitious. PAH!
By the way, I didn't let my gap close all the way.
(and even though naziracist is a moron, my significant other would tend to agree with him on this ONE thing! PAHAHA!)

Having a gap in one's teeth is such a small thing to worry over.
I have one. Every dentist I ever met wanted to close it.
My sister with born with major birth defects, she died at 14 months.
I"m ok with my gap. Have had it 49 years-- it's a small birth defect........ it's a part of me.
And I"m not African.
And it's never brought me good luck.
I make that myself.
It's just a part of me.

It doesn't mean anything, it's just a dental imperfection that can be corrected by a dentist.
