The new Governor of Florida made his first trip abroad to Israel. Israel has a ridiculously low import quota of goods and services from Florida, but exports huge quantities to Florida. Why this discrepancy? Is this just the usual sycophant gesture to a segment of the population? The same can be seen with other, Federal and State official from the USA. Is this exclusive support of Israel justifiable with respect to the world interests of the US?

Mostly because in one way or another Israel influences every level of our government... and our society.

it would be surprising to learn just how many politicians and people of influence Israel has helped put there.

Perhaps, he is trying to talk about opening more trade to Israel, perhaps citrus products. Anyhow, I'm sure that with Florida being the retirement capital of the USA, there is probably a considerable Jewish sector and maybe, the new Governor wants to see why the Jews travel to Israel to better understand their constituency. He'd probably also travel to Cuba, if it wasn't for that whole communist thing they got going on there. Now, as far as "exclusive" support of the USA, perhaps you haven't been keeping up with world events, but the USA is supporting Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, The UK and probably 100 more countries around the globe. to say that the USA exclusively supports Israel, would be a far stretch from reality.

Maybe he is considering running for president at a later time and needs both the Christan right and the Jewish lobby to support him

Really? Do you have statistics on how many officials go to Israel on their first foreign visit compared to other countries? Do you have statistics on what other countries they visit?

That way, we can then pick apart your fact free statement and see if your conclusion applies to the dozens of other countries officials visit.

It's justifiable , in regard to pandering to certain demographics in certain states . (NY,FLA (ex-NYers) , Illinois,Cal., maybe Ohio & PA)

Also , if they don't , some of the fundamentalist Christian yayhoos , will make noise . ( The ones that look forward to the rapture where all the Jews will be killed, or converted . Anything that might lead to peace, instead of Armegeddon, interferes with their plans . No joke! Many finacially support the settler movement, in order to move us further towards WW III , >Armegeddon>Rapture)
