Would you rather be............?

Question

as barmy as a bag of spanners with dementia or something, but still be continent OR as normal as glue but doubly incontinent?

would you rather be "with it" and sh!tting yourself or mad and not sh!tting yourself! silly people

in response to honeybee's answer. I am not laughing at incontinent people, i work with them too myself. I've lost count of the times i have cleaned up wee and poo! I am just asking what you rather be, its just a question. I know how embarrassing it can be for them, and i always try to help them keep their dignity. We could debate about this all day, but i wont - i'm just saying!

As I'm a carer, we often have this discussion at work and they all know I can't wait for dementia to hit.

It doesn't matter how infirm you get if you have dementia, you don't know what's happening whereas the ladies with all their faculties are terribly ashamed of themselves when their bowel and bladder fail to work as they would want.

One downside to dementia is that everyone around you is crazy. You know that you have to get home to make the tea for the bairns and everyone around you is intent on stopping you. Of course your bairns aren't grandparents themselves ... they're bairns and they need their tea.

I don't know how it happened but I seem to have memorised one of my ladies daughter's phone number so when she starts tearing her hair out with worry, I just reel off the phone number and assure her that I've just phoned to let them know she'll be late/staying with us ... it usually calms her down. After all, if I hadn't just phoned, how would I know the number, you don't tend to remember other people's family's numbers unless you've just used it.

It's a toughie. The ideal would be to be as barmy as a bag of spanners with dementia and be doubly incontinent as you wouldn't know what was going on half the time anyway. To answer your question I would take the second option - at least I could lead some sort of life - even if most of revolved around the toilet! Great question - it's a real dilemma!

Difficult one this.

If I was barmy, I would not care that I was incontinent but then I probably would not care about anything or know anything including pleasure.

If I had my senses I would know I was incontinent, be ashamed of it and worry about it. But then I would also know how to deal with it and would not be a burden to anyone else, plus I would still be able to enjoy other things. On balance I would have to choose sane but incontinent.

i work with people everyday that are either incontinent or doubly incontinent.its not really funny,sometimes it can be embarrasing for them,having to ask to be washed agian.
These sorts of questions arent funny. its one of the most degrading thing that could possibly happen to a person.

Lol.Well I'm barmy and have Crohns disease.Which means when I gotta poo,I gotta poo and quickly,lol.Not exactly incontinent,but getting there,:o)

Stonking mad, I have dignity and the release of a stream of random thoughts, insults, hallucinations etc is better than a release of a stream of piss and poo.

I'd rather be nutty, I mean most of those folks are happy as larks, they just have no clue what you're talking about. And if you have no clue you're wearing diapers, then who cares really? I would hate to have my mind and KNOW I was wearing diapers.
