Is it true that Mac is less vonerable to virus and spyware than Windows? I personally find that hard to believe seeing that it is second most popular to windows.

Of course, actually mac don't have any viruses at all, as a Mather a fact the viruses were originally created by the software programmers to protect their creations to be copied, that way if you copied a program and you didn't have the authorization code the program was designed to realize this other program (the virus) that wouldn't let you run the software you copied... but with time people start to create them just to bother or to know they were good enough to do it, or to get some one Else information, people like the hackers and so... windows is been programed on a platform named c++ and assembler (really power full and well known programing languages) but macs OS versions are programed over Linux which is much more stable, and despite mac OS is not free Linux and a lot of programs base on it are so the programmers didn't ever care about protecting their software...

Yes. Macs make up only a est 6% market share of home computers, so the incentive of hackers to create viruses for the OSX platform are not as high.

I switched to a MAC this year, and its the been the best move I have made in a long time. Computer runs with significantly less problems, comes pre-installed with virus software, does not crash or slowdown, and I have not had any pop ups or spyware.

Once you go MAC, you never go back.

Macs are no less vulnerable than Windows...it's just that far less people use Macs than those that use Windows. Windows is a much bigger target. Imagine a virus that was created for a Mac. It wouldn't be an exciting new story to hear that a couple hundred Mac owners got a virus. It's much more exciting to the virus writer to hear about millions of Windows PCs that got hit.

To some degree, yes because Mac is less popular in terms of people and therefore not as atrractice for the hackers. I do like Mac in some ways better then Windows and one reason being that it has fewer intrusions but I still would choose windows because much of the software made for computers is usually geared towards Window's users.

Yeah, there are less viruses and spyware than for Windows. Often times you will hear PC fans saying that there aren't any viruses for Macs because "they aren't worth puting viruses on". Even if they weren't worth puting viruses on (which they're not) that wouldn't be the reason why there aren't any viruses. The reason that Macs don't get viruses is because there are none for Mac. Why? It's virtually impossible to design a virus for a Mac. Windows is full of holes. That's why they get viruses all the time.

Anyone who thinks the lack of viruses on a Unix based operating system is due to its not being as popular as a Microsoft product has little appreciation of the vast differences in design between them. There is no way a virus could spread as there is a complete separation of user space and system space.

Spyware is a different matter.

It's true. PC sales far and away excede Mac sales, therefore if you were going to create a virus that would cause the most amount of damage you would target the PC not the Mac.

Doesn't mean there aren't virusus targeted at Macs, just not to the extent that there are for PCs.

Dit_demon is wrong. there not spywares or viruses Attacking Mac OS, Apple Mac is very popular but only for those who can get one...

Windows its a expensive OS but the machine its not...
Because windows comes in every PC u buy out there...
They make viruses for Windows and only windows, they dont bother to make Viruses for Mac OS.

because not every one owns an Apple Mac

The only way that Mac can get viruses is if " Windows users share infected Files with Mac"

Mac OS is very friendly, easy to use and has many features that Win VIsta has stole... -.-

Yeah, the are less prone to get viruses. They are just really expensive! I think one of the other reasons is that the people who put viruses on websites are targeting Windows, not Macs.
