No, each journey begins with the first step. If you're on the wrong course the time to turn is now. Of course this presumes a unidirectional rather than circular path. One may not make it back, resources may be entirely played out, but the point of return is intent even if that means continuing on to the point of origin. For those with the willingness rather than willfulness resources often may be recouped. Change is the only thing that is inevitable in life, return doesn't mean the past is denied or relived. Not to change is to die. The question is the direction in which change is sought, and if that is towards destruction one had darn well better turn around and begin recovery.
This is the point of the Prodigal Son story, return is not to a place and time, but to a Person and relationship.

Hi my buddie Enki Binki :))) yes there is such a thing as a Point of no return haha I am at that point in my life where I have had enough of being mistreated by Corporate America hahah once the ball gets rolling in your life and you are ready to dig yourself out of the whole or even out of the dark tunnel nothing will stop you....you see things happen to you in life to test your strengh and what you will put up with and what you will not! You either fight or die that is mentality.............you can never let anything break you down not a job not another person not a thing etc.........Whe you know you are right in your convictions you have to stand your ground and fight there is no going back and that is where I am in the end the people that have hurt will be the losers in the end .....When you go with convictions and stand up for who you and what you do there is no point of return especailly when you have not been happy in your life for some time and always try to make the best of the situation when you feel burnt out hopeless and brought down by the circumstances...........keep going for change & courage is the best growth process for any human being especially when you have not been treated fairly in life :))))) Good luck my friend ......

maybe the point of no return is different for everyone. Some women reach that point and end up killing the man or person what has pushed them to the point of no return through abuse. Everyone's tolerance level is different. My tolerance level is almost non existence when it comes to abuse of any kind. When i was married to my ex- husband in the beginning, I told him if he ever hit me he better kill me then and there because otherwise he would soon be dead after hitting me. Would I have killed him if he did? No way but at the time I believed that would be the straw that broke the camels back. Through the grace of God he never even once entertained the thought of hitting me. But every ones point of no return is different. I think any way.

In the context of going back to the past, literally, to "change" something, there's no return. Each moment of every day "passes" from the moment before, to the next, but that's quite another philosophical journey. I rather like the Shakespeare quote: "What matters it what came before...now with this day I shall begin & end." Although I don't agree with it 100%. What "came before" matters very much to me; in retrospect, I find so many insights & patterns. (None "good" or "bad.) It's not a matter of judging, & wishing--I/it had or hadn't, it's the perspective gained over years, & realizing the harmony while finding new "facets" to things that were so subjectively seen in the past. In that way, there is constantly "return" for me. One of the worst things I can imagine, is to have amnesia, with no memories to enrich me.
Edit: Excellent answer from Fr.Al. "...return doesn't mean the past is denied or relived." Especially in the last paragraph: "...not to a place and time, but to a Person and relationship." I'd add, that person is often YOU.

As point of no return commonly means, yes. As for instance, one can fly into the sky towards Japan from the states, however, once you pass a certain nautical point you can not return because the plane in which you are has not enough fuel to turn and go back. Same thing with a car on a trip from the one distant point to another. As in water also. In life, one can never return the moment we just spent, as in this time, as in love, as in imagination etc. We can not ever return, even home once we have left, for it is no longer what we left.
Even in relationships, there is a point of no return, no going back to "just friends", just kids, just sweet hearts, just married, just sex, just....pregnancy. This is why, with our out questioning and wondering, we want to find out the answers so bad....for we all would like that one thing, that one point to be restated, relived, re-done.

You have to live with what you did every day of your life. you just asked me a question and i just answered it. i can not go back now. but i can prevent it happening again the next time you ask. that's how life works.Yes there such thing as a POINT OF NO RETURN.... and there is such a thing as not redoing what you wish you could return to.

I remember this old saying through generations of my Family, My favorite Aunt always said, When you wake up in the Morning, Thank God for it, and Live it as if it was the Last day of your Life, because you would not know if you would be able to see Tomorrow. I have always instilled it to my kids also, because I guess as you say that every passing day is a point of no return.

Is the cup half full, or half empty...
Well in the sense of time, yes there is a point of no return..so far anyway.
However it is in our thoughts and hearts that looking back upon the time spent is an ever evolving renewal of the point, and thereby ridding us of being incapable of returning.
Each passing day is an opportunity to make this day the best day you have ever had, and thereby giving you the eternal renewal of optimism. Life in regard to pessimism is deafening and stagnant.
