As long as STDs are not an issue, it is safe and some women actually enjoy it, as orgasm can be very helpful with any painful cramping you are experiencing. Some people will say it is messy, but there are many things you can do to prevent this. A contraceptive sponge can be used, or even Insteads. YOu can read more about Insteads here

There are times I have had sex when on my period, and others I have not. It really depends on what you and your partner discuss and are comfortable with. I was in one long-term relationship where we both felt okay with it, and another where he was very uncomfortable with it. No, it doesn't hurt any more or less. The only experience I've had is that when I am menstruating, I'm a little bit more tended and sensitive. However, if you have dryness issues, having intercourse during your period my actually relieve you of some discomfort. As far as being safe... the safest sex is no sex, but we all know that. Since you have more body fluids readily present, it is more likely for STD's to be transmitted. I would recommend a condom to decrease this likelyhood, although still possible. In the end, its all up to you and your partner. Good luck!

Sometimes I do... my boyfriend doesn't mind. No, it doesn't hurt. Safe? Well, that depends on what you mean. It's safe health-wise, but you can't depend on it to be safe pregnancy-wise (and of course, you can still pass STDs... no different that when you're not on it.) It's just a personal thing. Some guys are cool with it, some aren't. Some women are super turned on during their periods, some are OK with it, and some don't want to at all. It can be messy, of course.

It's perfectly healthy. I used to do it, but my husband is really turned off by the idea, so we just wait until it's done now. You may not want to the first day or two, though, because if you have bad cramps, the last thing you need is someone aggravating that area. Sometimes, though, an orgasm will actually help your cramps. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it takes your mind off of them and puts it onto something far more enjoyable!

Only on the last day when it's very very light that i know it's going to stop. It doesn't hurt you can say it's and extra lubricant. You'll be very wet and it will still feel good to him as long as he's not thinking about the blood he'll be cool with it. But don't do it if your period just started. Blood stains and doesn't come out of sheets. You still need to use protecttion. People think they can't get pregnant but that's a lie you can. Also you are more easily opening to infections and disease to pass through your body.

Yes, sometimes it can be better. The blood is like extra lubrication so if anything it might be less likely to hurt. You can put down a towel, or do it in the shower. The blood isn't any more "gross" than semen is. It is not safe in the sense that you can still get an STD or get pregnant.

If it doesn't bother you or him, it's fine. It does not hurt. Safe from what? There is a small percentage of women that have gotten pregant from having sex while on their period.

It does not hurt. He should still wear a condom since it is possible (but very unlikely) to get pregnant. Having an orgasm can help relieve your cramps, so as long as you can get over the blood, you'll be fine.

yep, the shower is the best place for it, the water just washes it away. It doesn't hurt, and in my experience it can shorten your overall period by half a day or so.
