If you leave of your own accord, they pay you for the last day or hour worked. The check is normally issued on the next regular payday, and could be direct deposit or an actual cheque depending on the size of the company and who does the payroll. Obviously your pay stops when your work stops.

They will pay you what you are owed during the next pay period. It depends on the company if they direct deposit it or issue a check. If I don't come to pick up my check from my job on the Friday I'm paid they mail it out on the following Monday.

If you have direct deposit, then your last check will be deposited at the same time it normally would have, unless you owe them money, in which case, they can hold your last check.

They are allowed to pay you what you are owed during the next regular pay cycle.
