NaOH molecular weight 23+16+1=40

20g NaOH = 20/40 =0.5mole

1000mL = 1L of 2.00 M correspond to 2 moles

To have 0.5 mole you need 1000/4 =250mL

Molar mass of NaOH = 23 + 16 + 1 = 40 gmol-1

Thus:
40 g are equivalent to 1 mol
20 g are equivalent to ? ==> 1 * 20 / 40 = 0.5 mol

Solution:
2 mol NaOH are present in 1 L of solution
0.5 mol NaOH are present in ? ==> 0.5 * 1 / 2 = 0.25 L = 250 mL (Answer)
