Are you trying to understand the literal meanings to this terms?

1. A red letter day- is a day you want to remember.
example: The day my son apologized was a red letter day.
2. deadline-the time determined a job must be complete.
example: The deadline for all reports must be in by the 3rd of every month.
3. Child's play-Assumes that everything a child does is easy and play not serious.
4. A Yorker-A New Yorker.
The visitor spoke with a Yorker dialect.
5. The talkie-the phase is obsolete it refers to movies and would have been used immediately following the invention of movies with sound.
Our local theater had its first talkie in 1950.
6. Wallflower-When someone does not dance at a dance they are considered a wall flower.
The charming young gentleman asked all the wall flowers to dance before the dance was over.
