Making decisions is a part of life. We are constantly making judgments about good and bad; safe and unsafe; right and wrong; and etc.
Racism is taking that judgment and applying it to a race of people. It's a function of making a race based judgment and people do it because it's easier for them to make blanket judgments about a whole race of people. It's based on ignorance, bad judgment and laziness.
As long as there is ignorance, bad judgment and laziness then racism will continue. In other words, it will likely never go away.
I believe that prejudice is very common. For instance, I had a bad experience with ONE Wal-Mart store. I then became prejudice against ALL Wal-Mart stores. Another example...I ate a bad piece of fish and I then become prejudice about all seafood. These are logical uses of prejudice. However, when prejudice (which just means pre-judgment) is applied to people, like racism, sexism, ageism and all the isms, then it's denies the individuality of each human and results in great social inequalities and injustice.
I don't think people are ever going to be able to put aside prejudice, because it actually serves us well in some cases, but ignorance causes many of us to apply that to groups of people.

That is a really good question. It is because people are too stubborn to change and like making other people feel like scum. People are reluctant to change and find it easier to be nasty than actually accept people for who they are. And what is the point in racism because over half the world's population is black.

because some people are so dumb that they think that they are better than everybody. but these are actually the people who are worse than everybody. racism is wrong i wish it would end too.

Because people are different. they think differently, eat differently, speak differently. All people like to be near and around people who behave the same as they do so you get groups that think alike talk alike and on and on. before long this one group will find the actions of the other group distasteful and there you have it.

Because it's passed on from one generation to the next. I mean parents teach kids ect. I don't know if it will ever end sadly.

until we all mix genes...there will always be a difference. Differences always cause problems...Don't you remember as a kid when that one person was big or has one thing different about them, they were ridiculed...Same thing but 10 time worse when you are one group against another.

Because people are selfish and definitely not perfect! It is something they do to make themselves feel better but it really only makes them worse. AHH! Its terrible!
