If whites were a minority, it would be a moot point. But since whites are not a minority, then one could only suppose that this would be a racist motivated program. I don't know if Universities would accept a scholarship based on the guidelines you propose.
If white people hadn't abused the system to meet their own racist ends, there would be no need for scholarships for minorities. Everyone would have a fair shake, no one would be exclude because of the color of their skin. But because of ignorance and hatred, this was not the case.
My question is - how would you meet the "white" criteria? Is it going to be based on pigmentation alone? If so, would a Norwegian qualify before a Greek? Would a blonde be the first choice - or would the redheads get first crack? Would all Causcasians fit in this "white" scholarship program? Because if that is the only criteria then most all of the people who are of Middle Eastern decent would be able to apply.

Yeah if your only requirement is that they be white. Try to spice up the racism by picking a nationality like Germans and award scholarships to those students who are direct descendant's of German parents. You then need to validate your scholarship with some point like why you feel students with a German heritage need a scholarship. To keep the scholarship honest you need to verify the requirements you set forth such as having a German heritage etc.
It will seem less racist if the white people you want to help are somehow a group you or your donors belong to. It wouldn't make sense for Italians to donate to a scholarship only for Germans etc.
The real question is why you feel white scholars need a scholarship for being white, you need a better reason than that.

I believe that in the Constitution that the 14 or 13th Ammendment was that you could not exclude other races or something like that. I hope you weren't going to just have a scholarship for Caucasian peoole because they're white. I would not reccomend that you would do it. I mean you could hav a scholarship for poor needy American or exchange students or something like that. Taht scholarship would probably outrage the public and will not last long... sorry.. but it's true.

Some consider it's racist. But, I, personally do not. The college here is an well known university. Although it is primarily a black school. They give scholarships out to white only. It would be wiser to say that it is for minorities only.

Good luck! There will never be a MISS WHITE AMERICA contest, you will never hear SUPPORT THE WHITE COLLEGE FUND. Several white cops in Chesapeake, Va tried to form a white police officers' association and got 'beat up' by the NAACP, the city council and the ACLU! Yet, in our nation's capitol, there's a BLACK POLICE OFFICERS' ASSOC. There is a black American news columnist association (you'll never see a white one). Why, there's even a BLACK MOTORCYCLIST ASSOC.
I did hear of a young man who grew up in Brownsville, TX who put in for a scholarship. He was told that scholarship was only for minorities. He sued and won because, in Brownsville, being of non-Mexican descent, he WAS a minority!
America is so afraid of offending minorities, they will commit reverse discrimination to keep from doing so.
Is your plan 'racist'? Only if SUPPORT THE ***** COLLEGE FUND is.
No, I am not a member of the KKK or it's nutty affiliates. I'm only speaking the truth.

No - they have scholarships directed towards other races only and it's not racist. There are plenty of poor white kids that need help

Yes, that would be racist. The fact that there exist organizations that give scholarships only to black people or only to whichever race doesn't make it any less racist. Those other organizations are racist too.

I think this scholarship should be extended to any student with merit...black or white. A deserving student shouldn't be eliminated by virtue of his/her race, in my opinion. You may not be racist, but others might perceive you to be if you extend this opportunity to only white students. I'd consider this carefully.

i would not consider it racist as there are a lot of programs that help only minoritys so if what you are doing is racist then they are racist as well if there was a united white collage fund it would be protested against and eventually would be shut down

Hasn't that already been done? I mean, for years that's how it was. Blacks and other minorities had to create thier own programs and scholarships because they weren't allowed to participate in the other programs.
