I am considering microdermabrasion, because I have relatively minor scars (I think....not deep but some visible craters) from acne and realistic expectations about what microdermabrasion can and cannot do. My question is that I don't have any acne right now, but that is because I am using proactiv which prevents any from forming. So, should I get the treatment done now or wait until I know my skin is completely calm (because it's only kept under control; if i stop using Poractiv acne would began to resurface). My concern is whether if would be very safe for me to undergo microdermabrasion now, you know when my skin isn't you know. What do you think I should do? If it helps you I'm 17.

Later or never.

The quest for beauty and perfection is a source great misery for people. You are who you are. this includes any bumps, bruises or scars that you might have. When you can accept yourself and how you look, you will find more happiness.

Surgery is a drastic approach to trying to change us from what we are and who we are into who we think we "should be".

Dealing with being self-consciousness in philosophy is a much easier approach to the problem of our esteem.

Tiffany:
I honestly feel that this kind of question should be asked to the Proactiv people. There should be a contact # that you may call on the packageing.

I have never needed any form of acne medication, not even those over the counter grocery store types. I am 33 and have flawless skin with small pores (helps with the look of ultra smoothe skin, like most Asian people have). I am Black, Spainard and Native American and have all of that to help me with my skin.

You are 17. Your skin should be clearing up naturally now anyway. The worst years are 14-18 with the acne. Are you mistakeing your pores (little holes in your skin where the pimples usually begin though that is WHERE the skin breaths and sweats from) for craters? We ALL have pores, some larger than others.

The microdermabrasion is just a little machine blower that is roughing up the outermost layer of skin and removeing it by using little crystals (like sand). Its not going to help CLEAR your skin though I understand you are asking about scars and craters. Your 17. Your using Proactiv. I have had microdermabrasion done just once to see what it does: It smoothes out the skin by removeing the outer most layer. Its good for a topical treatment once every 2 months as a routine for helping with your clear surface skin. Honestly, I dont think that it would hurt if you do it only that often.

You still need to contact Proactiv about this. Im sure they would be able to give you a more educated answer. If you go to the Microdermist, they may coherse you in for a treatment just to get the appointment. Call Proactiv first.

you can but you have to take care of it with lots of vitamin e or a very good face cream I have it done(my recipe) your outer layer peeled out and the second layer or your skin surface and it's pink and young you have to nurture it like baby by using good moisturizer to bring it back to good condition

See a dermatologist and he/she can examine and prescribe the best action to be taken.
