Unless the driver was written to support Vista and XP both you can't install a Vista driver on XP so unless they have XP drivers available to download you might be better off reinstalling Vista. You could try to identify what manufactures makes each component in the machine and get the drivers from their website, such as intel.com but that's a lot of work.

Besides, if you want support from Sony on the machine they are probably not going to help you unless it is running Vista.

Hi

Since you've gone back to XP, you need all the XP drivers. Vista drivers will not work in XP as they are designed / written for a completely different operating system.

Vista is better than XP. Now because you changed you OS, you have to start from scratch - not a good move.

Vista drivers and XP drivers are, for the most part, not compatible. If you can't find XP drivers for that particular laptop you will probably have to reinstall Vista.

You may have to get the drivers from the manufacture of the hardware. The drivers may not be availible from the computer manufacture.
