O.K. First of all, no kid should be named Hawaii. That is uncalled for. If you are set on naming your kids after states, try something that sound like a name. Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, or Callie(for California). That would be better than going thru life as Hawaii.

Nope. Hawaii will always sound like a state. Even state names that are becoming more popular, such as Dakota, still sound like a state to me.
My family adopted a dog who was named Montana. To me, Montana is and always will be a state. We just call the dog Tana.

Thats a great question. I read Highlights magazine and one of the story's is about this girl named Arizona her brother's name is Texas (Tex) and sister's name is Indiana (Indi)! I think Indi and Arizona are cute. I think Hawaii would get made fun of. I like Virginia also. And hmm.... Dakota? (for South Dakota or North Dakota).

I'm not to crazy about it as a name like 'name name', but it could be a nickname. I see where you are coming from though. How about these:
Rome
June
Dakota
Raina
Jamie
Hope I have helped and if you are pregnant,
Cherish the good times with your child
Of course listen to others, but YOUR instinct is what matters.
Note:Babies don't come with instructions.
Good luck with the pregnancy and the child!
Remember that your child will always love you.
Always love him/her.
To let love in, you have to let some out.
Simply love.

I would have to honestly say that it's not to my liking - and I think that she would be in for a lot of teasing.
If you like the Hawaiian sounds check out this site for traditional hawaiin names.

I'm in the same boat - trying to find a girl's name that is different yet not so much so that she feels odd.
my other kids are Christopher, Cody, Cheyenne, Victoria & Georgieanna... and we are expecting another girl on Sept 4.. and no names as of yet

Interesting...any particular reason why you would name a girl after a state? It definitely is different, and sounds good too. A risk you are free to take, just make sure it sounds good with the last name. Good luck!
