If Bush talks like he favors a certain canidate do not vote for that person. Bush wants to set the next president up so he can still be in control. Bush is a dictator. At least Hitler was honest. He wore an arm band.

Not only presidential terms, we should be grateful that there is a retirement age for everyone. When I retired, my friends asked me why I was retiring. My reply was that it is better to go when people are asking "Why" rather than wait until they start asking "When".

You favor the left and this is a leftist question. While I'm not pleased with Bush's terms I believe he is far from Hitler. You do not know what having a real Hitler is. I second the notion that we should thank God Al- Gore wasn't president. And I praised God the day Kerry lost the election. What's the national debt got to do with this war? We owe trillions of money but most of that is welfare and sosial security not the war. I don't honestly think Gore or Kerry would have reversed it. It's going to take decades to undo our national debt.

Um, if Bush is a dictator then that means that the concept of "term limits" can't apply to him since by definition, that means he can't be president or more than 8 years and a dictator is not limited to 8 years. But does that not therefore mean that he is NOT a dictator?

Oh, the inherit contradictions people like you find yourself in!

(And for the record, I thank G-d that Al Gore wasn't president during the past 8 years.)

Well, if the Preseident in question is merely perpetuating a modern version of white man's burden, then it might be a good thing that we have our limitations.

GW is trying to finish his father's job in an area that been one giant civil war for centuries. We have a responsibility to help our own people, yet we ignore them in favor of "fixing" something that can't be fixed... And the entire time we're being governed by a President that's not even fluent in the only language he knows.

I agree with you, at least Hitler was honest. He did terrible, terrible things, but at least he told the world what he was up to and what he meant to accomplish. GW says he is trying to bring good to the world, but all he's doing is bringing on the white man's burden in the 21st century.

Case in point:

Imperialists in the 19th century spread themselves and their ideas (particularly Christianity) to "heathen" societies. They completely uprooted the societies, which they viewed as uncivilized and childish, and didn't even stop when they had them completely Westernized. The spread of Christianity was used as a veil for economic and political expliotation. Their goal was to bring a better religion and government to the peoples so that they could move forward and encourage cultural advancement.

Imperialists today do the same thing, only this time it is democracy. We go in, uproot the government, and destroy homes and lives. We tell the people that they're not living the right way, that there is a better way, and that that way is our way. We "encourage" them to adopt a more Western culture and the ideals of Western democracy. We use democratization as a veil for economic and political exploitation. We pride ourselves on our freedom, yet we continually deny that freedom to others.

Starting to sound more like the white man's burden? History may not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme.

What amazes me is how Bush was elected not once, but twice! Actually, I think both elections were ripped off - stolen -by the Republicans. I think the hanging chad situation, people (especially Blacks) being turned away at the polls, all contributed to an unfair election in 2000 and 2004. I also think Cheney plays a stronger role in the government than VPs traditionally do. Let's give thanks for term limits so we're rid of Bush and Cheney

Like or dislike Bush or Clinton to compair either to Hitler is dishonest and unfair.
As an American I would rather live in America in it's worst day than under Hitler on his best day!

Quite correct; AH spelled out his program in Mein Kampf, and removed all doubt about absolute despotism in 1934.

But let's not get too relaxed with GWB--he still has until January 20, 2009. He got us into the Iraq mess, has been threatening Syria and Iran, and most recently, has put Pakistan in his sights. And don't forget about the $9 trillion and-still-growing national debt.

Still 17 months+ of additional mayhem possible!

Yes definitely. I am very glad that there is a limit, not just because of Bush though.

Unquestionably. What will you and your like minded friends be willing to risk/do, when he declares martial law prior to the term expiration, and suspends all elections? Think about that :))
