We were on the computers for school and were doing some work, anyway for it, we had to have us and a partner saying our speech on the microsoft recorder thing.

Anyway when our class was finished, the priniciple (assistant) checked my computer to see if I had looked up anything naughty (which i hadn't)

So he starts looking in my folders and finds my speech. And in the background you can hear my teacher talking.

Now, he calls me up to his office and says that what I did was illegal cause I recorded the teachers voice without him knowing and he even suggested to the teacher that he press charges on me (luckily the teacher was cool and said no)

But it's just the fact that he HAD TO BUST ME 4 SOMETHING i'm pissed off. I mean me and my friend were pretty much the only ones doing the work everyone else was just playing games.

P.S You can hardly hear the teacher in the background!

It doesn't matter -- he is lying outright. There is no such regulation in the type of academic setting in which you were functioning.

I suggest that you write directly to the school board and ask for intervention -- and copy your local press. I find that outrageous, disingenuous, and unacceptable. Is there the possibility of racial or ethnic prejudice involved?

Please contact me by direct email if you wish. I have included my email address in the signature block. I may be able to also help you find a local organization or person that will help you by intervening as well. The principle should be fired.

Kindest thoughts,

That is absolute rubbish - any judge would throw it out of court and the police would probably arrest HIM for wasting police time. It is completely out of the spirit of the law - you could bust hundreds of thousands of people if it was taken to such ridiculous lengths.

I'd probably ask someone who knows more about such laws - but I'd personally call his bluff. Let him go to the police - and you can go to the press.
