The Republicans haven't approved of the Democratic controlled Congress because Democrats now have the majority. Democrats don't approve of Congress because they have done almost nothing to stop George Bush and the Iraq war.
It's obvious that if Congress wants approval they will stop this war. I would think that since Congress is pretty much doing what Bush wants them to do that the Republicans would approve of the job they are doing. But instead they foolishly keep pointing out that Congress has a low approval rating. Hmmmm....why is that ? The more critism Congress gets the more willing they will be to take action against the President's policies. They won't lose much Republican support ( because they have very little right now), BUT they will gain a lot of Democratic support.
Shouldn't you Bush supporters be approving of the fact that Congress is letting Bush have his way ?

Army Reired Guy, that's EXACTLY my point ! The reason that Congress has a low approval rating is because democrats don't approve of the job they are doing. To get that support back they will have to stop Bush. Which is bad for Bush supporters.

I think a couple of you understand what I'm asking. For the rest of you let me try one more time....The low approval of Congress is actually a reflection of them doing exactly what Bush wants them to do. And that is to do nothing. Therefore, Bush supporters should be approving of Congress.

If they realized anything based in reality they wouldn't be Bush supporters still. You can explain to them ad nauseum how low Congressional approval ratings are actually a good thing and they will just not understand that. Congress is not stopping Bush and that is why their approval rating is so low. I don't know why it is so hard for them to understand such a simple concept.

I think the low approval ratings of Congress and the President just show that the public is dissatisfied with Washington all together. A lot of Republicans like to say, well Bush must be more popular because Congress has a lower rating. I don't think that's accurate. Here's something to keep in perspective. After 9/11, President Bush's approval rating shot up to 95%. Congress peaked at 59%. People never like the idea of Washington politicians, which is just the image that "Congress" creates in peoples' minds, whether times are good or bad, people are in general cynical about the idea of Washington politicians. Its a lot easier to believe in an individual than the concept of a group of politicians, so that's why the Presidents' approval rating is usually higher, whoever it is.

No that is not true. The reason for the low approval is that congress is now focused on harming the troops in the field and Americans don't like that. Congress does not have the authority to end the war. They only have the authority to cut the funding. This is a battle that only harms our image world wide and harms our troops.

Congress has such a low approval because they are engaged in in fighting instead of dealing with the job they have. The ridiculous rhetoric coming from the democrats only frustrates the people more. It is pointless to obstruct progress when everyone knows that if we leave there will be a massacre larger than that committed by Pol Pot. The aftermath of which would force us back in with larger troop counts and higher casualty rates.
We are not an Island that can stand alone and let the world be whatever. We are far to large and dependent on world trade to allow radicals to gain control of oil even if it is in their country.

And when did the dems approve the rep controlled congress? If Congress wants approval, they should stop witch hunting & just do the freakin job we're paying them to do. But it'll never happen. Therefore, they won't get any higher approval ratings. Too bad we can't deport em all along with the illegals they love so much & just start over...

To those that say the Democrat Congress have done nothing. Let me point out the Pelosi has visited Syria, Finestein has steered billions of Government contracts to her husband companies as Chairperson of the appropriations committee, Jefferson has supplemented his income by stashing a bribe in his freezer and they have planned the largest tax increase in the history of America. Even Hillery said that even though some have benefited from the tax cuts, that they have to be taken away for the good of the country. When you make millions every year I guess a tax increase won't be noticed as much as it will by those that actually work.

I think that Bush has effectively claimed himself immune to everything including decisions by Congress and that Congress traditionally has a lower rating than the President.

The function of Congress and the function of the President and his administration are two separate bodies of government.

Yes, they are to work together, but Congress continually making attempts at trying to run the Presidency and his administration is not what our forefathers envisioned.

Which is exactly what most all the liberals are trying to do.

Didn't Mancy Pelousy accuse Bush and the Republicans of manipulating gasoline prices?

Why hasn't the Wicked Witch of the West lowered them yet?

The "new direction for America" is a downward spiral to hell under the Demcoratic Congress!
