I think she's trying to find a way to blame anyone but herself. Maybe a lot of Asians don't want to act. If there were NO Asian actors then I'd agree with the prejudice remark, but there are Asian actors.

I think Jackie Chan.
If there are indeed no opportunities one needs to create the opportunities. This is not impossible - or even very hard - to do.
She needs to get out there, act in everything possible that doesn't compromise on her basic values.
What's the harm in participating in Community Theatre? How about small amateur productions? Why not? At worst, she builds her portfolio. At best, she delivers a performance that gets her noticed by the best directors. Then she doesn't even need to go looking for an agent. They'll be beating a path to her door.
It's all about what she's willing to do, not about how much she thinks she is owed.
The world may be prejudiced (although I don't think so but we'll let it go for now) but that shouldn't stop someone from trying. Rather, I'd take that chip, put it on my shoulder and set out to prove that whatever bias there is in the world, I'll overcome it.

Well, it's true that it's hard for Asian actors to get jobs that aren't stereotypes. For example, the Asian movie stars that people know of in America are all either the Jackie Chan-type martial arts master, or the Zhang Ziyi/Lucy Liu sort of beautiful, delicate Asian, sometimes with kung fu skills thrown in. It's not a perfect world, I guess, and it'll never be.
So, because the industry is kind of limited for us, it will be harder for her since there's less demand, but it doesn't mean it'll be impossible! If that's her passion, she should definitely go after it with a vengeance. Just getting caught up in about these thoughts will get her nowhere.

I have to go along with those answerers who say that playing the prejudice card is a way to avoid admitting you are not good enough. If your friend is really good, agents will want her. It doesn't matter what her race is. She cannot blame that. Theatre and Film are the two least racially prejudiced industries in the world.

Everyone has an excuse for not succeeding. It's not prejudice
She's trying to do something that's almost impossible to do.
Does she think it's easy for every non-asian to get an agent?

its not prejudice so much anymore but when casting movies they usually have an idea of what they want the character to look like. all she needs to do is practice and be persistant and keep in mind that the movie industry is the toughest to get into.

So not true! Did you see disney channel? How about Grey's Annatomy? Tell your friend to keep trying! If she keeps telling her self that, then she may never be famous. Stay posotive, and keep trying, imaginge all the celebs, had the door shut in their face, but they kept trying.
