since it doesn't factor out very nicely..
use the quadratic formula
(-b +/- √b^2 - 4ac) / 2a
quadratic formula is for things that look like
ax^2 + bx + c
so in your example:
a = 2
b = -9
c = -7
plug those values into the quadratic formula and solve. You'll come up with 2 answers between there's that + or -

(2t + 1) (t - 7)
(t + 1) (2t - 7)
(2t - 1) (t + 7)
(t - 1) (2t + 7)
are the possible factors but none of them will give you the correct value for the t term. So, the equation has no factors. Use the quadratic equation's roots formula.

2t^2 - 9t - 7
Must use quadratic formula:
t = [-b +/- √(b^2 - 4ac)] / 2a
t = [9 +/- √(81 - 4(2)(-7))] / 2(2)
t = [9 +/- √(25)] / 4
t = [9 +/- 5] / 4
t = [9 + 5] / 4 and t = [9 - 5] / 4
t = 14/4 and t = 4/4
t = 7/2 and t = 1

look for factors of 36: one million and 36 2 and 18 3 and 12 4 and 9 If the 36 is beneficial, the factors could desire to be an analogous sign (the two useful or damaging). If the 36 is damaging, the factors could desire to be opposite warning signs (one useful and one damaging). For the 1st problem, which of them upload as much as +9? +12 and -3 (undergo in innovations they could desire to be opposite warning signs) For the 2d problem, which of them upload as much as -13? -4 and -9 (the two an analogous sign) So, the solutions are: (t+12)(t-3) and (v-4)(v-9)

it has roots but they cannot be factored
all those who have given u are wrong answers do not follow with them
i have the solution eventhough with the same formula of
the above u will get
[9+or-(137)^0.5]/4
they are not resolvable there is no solution for the above equation.
for ur information use the following formula for having roots are not.
b^2-4*a*c=0or >0r <0

reese did a good job at first but she lost a negative sign under the square root.
[9 +/- √(81 - 4(2)(-7))] / 2(2)
[9 +/- √(81 -(-56 ))] / 2(2)
[9 +/- √(137))] / (4)
always go back and check to make sure your answer works.
