certainly, the worldwide opposition to the illegal Iraq war has encouraged many Muslims to become more radicalized.

But, Muslims are also well aware of the corrupt kings and puppet presidents of Muslim countries, that the USA has supported/encouraged for many years.

They will use whatever method they need to recruit people, however if it hadn't been the Iraq war it would have been something else. They had no problem recruiting prior to 9/11. When 10% of the population of Muslims around the world support suicide bombings, I think they have the numbers, considering the number of Muslims in the world.

They also used the suffering of Americans after 9/11 as a recruiting method.

They try. And they suceed with some. But recently many Iraqis have begun fighting Al Qaeda in Iraq, because they are just completely sick of the bloodshed Al Qaeda in Iraq is causing.

Its my understanding that many terrorism analysts have found that people tend to self-radicalize, and then join terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda. The terrorist organizations don't actually have to radicalize the people, but they do provide a structure and organization from which radicalized people can then carry out terrorist acts.

They use any action of the west to stop them anywhere in the world to recruit and they even are using the debate over Iran and nuclear weapons to recruit more to the cause as this shows to them how the west wants to dominate the Middle East. But I can tell you anyone there in al-Qaeda will also salivate over a time line or pullout date imposed by the US Congress on troops in Iraq. This will reinforce what they have said for years how the Americans can not take body bags and will cower with fear of any terrorist action. We have done that for so long it is their mission to make us do it again, and unfortunately we are cowering in fear again and not willing to finish fight.
