you can copy files you have on C: like pictures or excel files to your D: to save space on C: instead of doing all the work to make each of you programs to save to D:

The only way to 'combine the two is to use 'RAID' which will make the two think they're one. I'm using what is called 'RAID 0' but you can only set this up before you install windows. I like it because it will write across both HDD's at the same time - so in theory it should take half as long to write certain things.
For you however - I would suggest just telling your programs to install on D:\ instead of C:\ when you go to install it. If you have a large game for instance - when you're going to install it instead of installing to 'C:\Program Files\Game\' you can install it to 'D:\Game' just as easily.

whenever you are saving a program or a file, a box will come up allowing you to browse to the install location, or the place you want to save it to. Just browse to your D drive, ( if that is the name of your second drive

you have 2 options, first, cut document files from c to d to free some space on c or save your file directly to d,k you can save directly to d by changing the options while you save, befor saving a file, make sure that it is located on drive d, if not, browse on the save option to settle it to d. Yes you can have one partition(e.g. only drive c) but you will first reformat your computer and try creating only one partition which is drive c. hope this answer can help. good luck.

The easier way to use the D drive is to move some of your "data" to it. That is things like music, pictures, videos, etc. Look in your "My Documents", and take some of the things from "My Music" and "My Pictures" that you rarely use and move it to folders on the D drive instead. (Note that if you move music that is part of a play list, you will have to correct the playlist to point to the new location).

When you install programs one of the first things that it asks yo is where to install the program. the default location is c:\program files. change this to d:\program files
the simplest way, is jut go to your documents folder and remove some stuff there, create a folder on your d drive to put them in.
or you could just put old movies and wat not on dvd-r's
