The internet i don't know if i have to do anything with the network card in the laptop or how to connect it to my house's wireless router. For Microsoft Office i guess I just have to re-install that. And I tried putting the Sims 2 on and it finished installing and when i tried to load it...it divX9 or something needed...what's this? Deatailed help on the internet problem would be best. THanks

Go into the Control Panel and run the Wireless Network Wizard to reattach the laptop to your network.
Go to Microsoft.com and search for "directx" and you should find what you need for Sims 2. It is a video driver.
Finally, you will need the original Office CD to reinstall the Office program on your computer. It is not available on the Internet.

It is asking for DirectX 9. Do you have the original disks that came with the laptop? The network drivers should be on their.
Does Windows XP recognize the network card? Go in to the device manager and see if Windows XP at least sees the NIC.

installation the drivers for mom board (VGA, Sound and Ethernet) from the CD that got here with the motherboard. Or, get carry of the producer's motive force for the Ethernet card from the internet on yet another laptop and run it on your laptop.
