Will there be any compatibility issues? For example, will XP have any hardware issues or not be able to run to the hardware's 'potential'? And does Vista come with a recovery disk like XP did...Just in case. Thanks

You can run XP on a Vista ready PC. "Vista Ready" simply means that the there is a Vista driver available for each of the hardware items in the PC. Because there are still thousands of more XP then Vista PCs, any hardware on the market will also have an XP driver available.

Whether your Vista PC will come with a Recovery Disk is a decision made by the manufacturer of the PC. Check the specs on their website to see if they include a recovery disk, or software (such as Norton Ghost) for creating your own.

You can easily 'downgrade' from Vista to XP - but of course it may come with consequences.

1) Your warranty on the laptop may be invalid if you do this.
2) There may be drivers for the laptops hardware that you will have to look up prior to the uninstall in order to ensure the laptop runs the way it did on Vista. [Particularly the network adapter drivers if you use a wireless card - and other add-ons that came with the laptop [maybe a webcam, and some software to make the special buttons work (such as volume)]

I'm not sure if you could go back to Vista after you're on XP using the recovery disc that you received. But you should be able to.
