You can convert them using the Paint program that is free in Windows. Usually it is under the Accessories section of the Start menu. (You can create an icon to it with the location being "mspaint.exe" if you need to)
Open the bmp or gif file. From the File menu choose "Save As". Under where you type in the file name you can change the file type. Select JPEG and the file will be resaved in the jpg format.

You can use Paint as someone already suggested, but a much better option would be to download and install Irfanview.
Irfanview is absolutely free, see the link below.
You also need to download and install the Irfanview Plugins at the link below.
Having done the above, open Irfanview and use File > Batch Conversion to convert many files in one go from one format to another.
You can convert a single file simply by opening it and then using File > Save As to choose the format required.

Simplest Way is to open the picture with paint. Then click File > Save As. And then change the file type to .jpg [below where you type in the name of the file/picture]
Good Luck .

If you have a PC, you could use something like Photoshop, and the just save as a JPEG.
If you have a Mac, you could just change Picture.bmp to Picture.jpg.

in case you do not have photoshop, the fast and grimy way i could do it extremely is to have the pdf open on the demonstrate then press the "PrtScn" or "Print demonstrate" button. What this does is takes a demonstrate shot of your finished seen demonstrate unit. Then open Microsoft Paint and precise click the sparkling white area. Use Paste and it will prepare your image. then you may shop it from there. wish that helps.
