2. Some are more consumed with Paris Hilton and what is happening than what is actually happening with their country being led by Bush and Corruption.
3. Actually you need these ignorant and uneducated people as they make good lemmings or commonly called Bushies.

The purpose of Realty TV and Paris Hilton is to distract people. It's a trick used in other countries,too. However, some people are not caught in this.

I am beginning to feel as though having an opinion based upon any facts is impossible. There is conflicting information concerning almost everything you hear or read. It is making me feel as though sticking my head in the sand isn't such a bad idea. I feel contempt for the media and the politicians for trying to sway my emotions through a lot of unproven BS or gut feelings.
I'm sick of being told I'm unpatriotic for believing there are better ways to fight terrorism. I'm tired of the government trying to make me feel that at any minute the whole country could be reduced to rubble. I grew up with that. Are they focused on that or do they just want to look for somebody to blame in case it does happen?
Using this kind of fear tactics will, over time, have the effect of making people numb to the whole issue and they will seek escape from thinking about it through any means available. What on earth can the average person do about it anyway?
I'm going to vote for a Democrat in 2008 and pray that they just use some common sense.

Your question is valid by correctly stating "some", but get ready for the back lash.
You are correct on all three BUT I must state I know some highly educated intelligent people that still follow as lemmings.
We have become a nation of sound bites where the facade is more important then substance. An African American, a Latino, a Mormon or a women are all far more electable than someone who is obese.

Fred, I work in a convenient store/truck stop off the interstate in Florida, just 4 the record a very large group of Americans does not have the mentality to look at the pump # pryor to coming in the store to prepay.. and since i am in a slam mood let me add this,when I have south of border people come in they may not speak English but 99% of them know what pump # they are on and hand over cash ..... sooo u r asking why we don't know what is going on in the WORLD!!!! Whatever..I'll ignore your trolling and try to answer the question in it...People are not so much ignorant (there is every form of media available that you can think of) they simply create bubbles around themselves..their own little worlds..this way they do not have to be so afraid of what the world is turning in to. That goes for people from every walk of life and political party...but there are always the ones who face the world head on...those my friend are the strong, educated Cons.

Well....I see it in one of two ways. They either don't care about world events and politics, or they are trusting their government to protect them which is a huge mistake. And distraction by trivial happenings such as those you mention may be their way of 'dealing' with it all.
