That is an excellent question and I gave you a star for it. it does seem that girls are taught that in order to be whole they must have a boyfriend or be married. they are also taught some very negative things and any magazine cover geared toward women would show you: were not pretty, thin, sexy or wear the "right" clothes. We are incapable of keeping our men happy or our children happy. That's just wrong. also we are taught that we have to have a whole lot of money if we are going to be happy. And all of that is just wrong.

this only happens when the girl is a child being raised by parents that instill this in her. women today do NOT need a man to become something. I am one of 7 children, 5 girls and 1 boy. Of course my brother was pampered for being the only son but all of the girls went on to have wonderful lives and careers of their on. We all stand on our own, even in marriage.

It is from the ever pervasive Adam and Eve story that Catholism has infected society with. Eve being created from the rib of Adam and GOD creating Eve to fullfill Adam. It is an interesting story but to read the whole story check out The Mystic Book of Sex.

I don't think that they are taught that, it's females' nature to sort of look up to boys and wanting to be accepted and liked by them.

Boys are also more inventive in coming up with ways to impress girls.

So I think it's in girls' nature. I don't hear anybody telling girls they need boyfriends. Girls want that on their own. They want to feel loved and protected.

Excellent question, except for the 'why'.

Girls are human beings capable of making choices, including choices to reject brainwashing.

Nobody's doing it 'to' them, except a long string history, culture, television and movie shows they choose to watch, and their peers.

I suspect a growing portion of the female population's awakening on the matter.
