What a CROCK---this woman SHOULD have gotten LIFE in PRISON with NO POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE... she KILLS one child by starving him and ALMOST kills another (according to the article you highlighted) and she gets barely a slap on the wrist---their EXCUSE--------to stop the possibility of other foster children from having to testify.... Did they REALLY think they were SAVING these other children from the "trauma of testifying"? When these other children get older and realize what went down at THIS particular trial and sentencing, don't you think EVERY ONE OF THOSE CHILDREN will feel guilty as HELL when they grow up for NOT testifying and making this DeLeon woman serve the time she SHOULD have gotten? What REALLY fries me about this case is that this DeLeon woman WAS an OFFICER OF THE COURT---a former paralegal!!!! She got off WAY too easily and if I were ANY of the child's relatives, I would protest this case till I DIED to see her get what she DESERVED (LIFE IN PRISON)....

No I think she should be in for life. But the reason she is not according to this article, is because they allowed her to enter a plea in order to spare other small children from having to testify. While I think it is lack of justice I do appreciate that they wanted to spare children who have likely been through rough lives already. I think also that the foster care system carries a large part of the blame. There is no way children should be in that situation. Where were the workers at. Something like this should have been noticed by someone.

This woman shouldn't even spend one day in Prison!! The court should let her go....put her in a room with a few decent mothers, shut the door for a few minutes and see if she EVER does anything bad to a child again (or anyone else for that matter)!!

Nope. Of course, 6 years with the same amount of food she fed the child might come closer to justice.

From what I have heard about child abusers in prison, the defendant will not last six years.

No I don't. One of the problems with this country is that drug dealers spend more time in jail than murderers do. I don't condone drug use but seriously, they are not comparable.
