The only way directly from the International airport is to have a car pick you up and take you directly to Pune. It is extremely dangerous to drive at night so I doubt if anyone will do it no matter how much you pay. Probably a couple of hundred dollars during the day time would get you there.
Otherwise you will have to go to the domestic airlines and fly but the flight will not leave until the next morning after 6:00 AM. Probably around 50-65 dollars. First class A/C train will cost you around 25-30 dollars. It will also leave sometime durning the following morning. Good luck.

A that time of night, you won't have domestic flights from Mumbai to Pune, so you choice (if you insist on traveling directly and not going into town at all) is pretty much limited to ground transportation.

I took a taxi from Mumbai (city) to Pune in Jan 2007, and paid INR 3500 (including tip and highway tolls, and I'm a foreigner). Chances are, if you want to arrange for a taxi directly from the airport, and at night, you'd be paying at least double that amount. Plus, I would think twice about making the jouney at night with a driver that I don't know and who might have been up and driving all day (probable).

If you've got local family or friends who can arrange the car for you in advance, that would be safer and cheaper. Otherwise, another option to consider is spending 1 night at the YMCA (safe, clean and reasonably priced at around INR 1200 per night including breakfast) where they can also arrange your car for you the next morning.

Hope this help and safe travels!

No flights are operating between Mumbai Intl airport and Pune. If you are an inbound passenger to Mumbai then no need to get the city. Shuttle service between the intl and domestic airports are available at free of cost, and the route is internal. The fare will be varying from the airlines and the departure time. I would suggest you purchase the domestic (Mumbai - Pune) ticket also from your origin.

you will have to go upto dadar and take asiad buses from there. that is the most common and convenient way to travel between mumbai and pune. private taxis, both exclusive and shared can also be taken but the asiad buses are very comfortable. beware do not fall into the trap of private buses. PS: asiad buses have a frequency of every half hour between mumbai and pune starting at 4 am and the last bus is at midnight.

Take a taxi.
It is normal to hire taxis for long distances in India as they are very cheap.
It will probably cost about $40, but don't quote me on that.
