Curiously enough, when working on my family history on Ancestry.com, I discovered an ancestor, Susanna North Martin, who was hung as a witch during the Salem witch trials in 1692. Upon reading her biography, a more apt term would be "shrew".
P. S. I've looked up Susanna, and she is 10 generations back from me (born 30 Sep 1621 Olney, Buckinghamshire, England; d. 19 Jul 1692, Salem, Essex, Massachusetts). I'm a descendant of her son, William Martin, on my dad's side of the family. I don't know about the rest of her children, but William moved to Connecticut.
