I watched it last night and I thought it was really good and actually really funny. There is a good message in it.

It really isn't demeaning towards us, yeah it is playing up to some stereotypes, but it also teaches and has a great message in it.

Jyse, please go see it!!

Gaymes, I understand your concern, but if it was something that I thought would hurt the gay community I would not support it under any circumstanes...it comes with humor, it DOES play up to the stereotypes, BUT it delivers a message as well

GLAAD was shepherding it from the beginning, and the director and actors reached out to ask for help. They were very careful. I saw it, and I thought it was hilarious! I thought most of the humor came from straight guys' misapprehensions and just how stupid it is to pretend to be something you're not, as so many gay people have done over the years. I think a lot of trouble would have been saved had they said they were bi, but I guess there wouldn't be a movie then.

See I don't know if I want to see it now even. I was watching Best Week Ever last night and they were talking about how it's rather insulting and has all the gay jokes from the 80's in it.... But if you are saying it's okay, I might give it more of a chance, as I was optimistic about the film till I saw BWE last night... :)

I saw it. And I have been staunchly against it. And, I was right. What message does it bring? To not say the F word at the end where Sandler say's this? Or, when they had a little tiny smootch at the end as the camera quickly panned away from it.

That's fine if you find overt generalizions of gay men to be funny. I don't and they are tired and old.

The movie definately allowed bully's and homophobes to pat themselves on the back. I found no message in it at all other than once again "fags" are "funny".

If you want to see a clever comedy about dealing with homohobia rent "In and Out."

What's the message you are SO trying to convince of? LOL! I am still looking for it.

I haven't seen it yet, and from what i hear, as jyse said, the film is a little trite in the depiction of a supposedly homosexual couple. I might rent a DVD when its out LOL.

I plan on seeing it but I am still Recovering from Order of the Phoenix in an IMAX theater. And now I have the seventh book and all, so it might be one of those rent and watch with my boyfriend movies.

I want to see that badly, but I can't today... yay, birthday for me.

But yea, it looked hilarious. I mean, Adam Sandler AND Kevin James... come on.

Plus, I think it's a good step towards society accepting gay marriage or whatever you wish to call it. When it's funny, no one can resist.

So you don't think it demeans homosexuals?

I probably won't see it anyway. I don't like watching movies or TV at all, really.

on the surface, it looks like it might veer toward being offensive to gays, but, i did hear Sandler say he wanted to make sure the movie was not insulting to gays at all.

so, I'll probably see it.......on dvd.

No, but I did see "Hairspray" last night. Fantastic, much better than I even expected. Thanks for the "Chuck & Larry" review.
