Alot of breakfast cereals have tiny air pockets inside them and/or are lighter/less denser than milk, so they stray to the surface unless pushed down by other cereal.

The desity of the cereal is less then that of the milk. Just like Ice cubes and water.

Weetabix sink. Now I know this cos my husband is a bit daft at times and makes up names for everything.He calls weetabix 'No float stones' cos to him that's what they look like. Work that one out. lol .

My untoasted muesli sinks but you mean the processed stuff don't you.
They are less dense so they float I guess.
