Last night, I had a dream I was tied up to two trees like a hammock. I was given a series of deep, sharp cuts through my chest area. Akwardly enough, when I woke up, my somach was in searing pain. Also, I was afraid to leave my room, because in my dream I had also been held captive there and was afraid to leave on pain of more torture. What's up?

Sounds like you are having anxiety. Anxiety can cause all kinds of stomach pain. Also, to have dreams that are as vivid as yours, it could be a mental disorder. My brother is schizophrenic, and he always had dreams like that and would wake up in horrible pain. I would make an appointment with a psychiatrist. They will be able to help with anxiety and if you do have a mental disorder they can help with that too.

There are two possibilities.
One is that you are suffering some pain from some other source while you are sleeping an incorporating that feeling in your dream.
The other is that you are suffering psychosomatic pain or pain from anxiety. Anxiety can cause tightening of the muscles and can be severe if left unchecked. This can happen because you are having an anxiety dream. Dreams usually have some basis in reality and may be extensions and elaborations of thoughts or worries we had at an earlier time. They can be blown out of proportion because the rational part of out brain is no longer in control of our thinking. I have had some very bad anxiety dreams that even in semi-consciousness I found hard to dispel. I usually get up, watch TV or get a drink, and try to go back to sleep thinking of something more pleasant. These dreams are more likely to occur if I have eaten a lot shortly before I sleep or I have problem breathing from asthma or insurance companies are late paying the money they owe me and I am running low on funds.

More often than not things from the outside are integrated into dreams, so it could be something like a cat digging it's claws into you chest. Remember check if there are any cuts, punctures, scratches on your chest area. The hammock part sounds like you were sleeping in a weird position, and the torture could be a rash or mosquito bite.

I have major stomach issues, and sometimes i feel like i am beinng stabbed and i dream that.Try straightening out your covers more, and making sure that you cannot touch sharp items around you while you are sleeping. I personally always twisted myself in my covers, yet i never made my bed. I started to make my bed, and I didn't twist in my covers and alot of the bad dreams ended. Also, just a little tip. Keep a light either outside of your room or in it. Just a little light that can prevent you from hitting yourself or stepping on things when you get up in the night or go to bed. I hope you found this useful!
