I keep seeing other countries with female leaders and wondering why we have not had one?

Do we think women are less qualified than a man? And if so, are we hypocrites for other judging other countries, saying how much inequality they hold as far as gender?

Thanks for your thoughts...

Jenny B: Thanks for bringing up the imbalance in work compensation. I had this in mind when I asked this question.

The U.S. was created as a W.A.S.P. fueled paternalistic society. And in our 230+ years as a country we haven't grown too much in our backward thinking when it comes to equality. We talk a lovely game, but reality is quite different than the image we project. White men still make more money than women and minorities for the same work (with the same experience and education, according to the Government Accountability Office). That says it all. People say lovely things about female and minority candidates in public, but the polling suggest once they have anonymity, Americans still maintain their backward views.

Women have ruled entire empires, have lead armies into ancient battles, have invaded countries, ruled as Queens, and have been to space. But oh no! A woman might be in charge of America?? Eeeeeek! Can you imagine what she might do? What if she invades a county for no good reason? What if she bleeds this country dry of money while letting Americans starve with no health insurance? What if she relies too heavily on her advisors? What if she's stubborn and irrational? Well, we've clearly seen a man can do all these things. So why can't a woman do them, too? Any woman should have a fair shot to run the country into the ground just like the men have! No, I'm no Hillary supporter. All I'll say is that I think she's wrong for the job, but that's mostly because she's part cyborg Terminator. It has nothing to do with the presence of breasts or a vagina. But hey, can we be so surprised in our fellow Americans? This is a nation in which the southern half of the country believe that dinosaurs were mythical creatures This is a nation in which we censor television fanatically at the sight of part of a booby, but we let our 6-year olds see "Saving Private Ryan" in theatres. This is a nation that roots for its country like we're a giant sports team, and not a nation with global responsibilities. This is a nation in which we don't even want our kids to hear or learn about the "theory" of evolution for fear they might believe it. And this is a nation in which some of us want it written into our very Constitution that homosexual marriage is wrong. Yep, we're backwoods hicks as a whole. But we'll get there. The good news is that we are evolving (even if half of our country doesn't believe it) and we always come around. We're just a little behind the rest of the developed world. I have faith though...we'll get there!

Women are not less qualified than men, we just havent had the right one run. Hillary is NOT the answer.

Find a woman like Margret Thatcher and she will get my vote.
Comparing Hillary to PM Thatcher would be like comparing a cat to a basketball. Not even the same species...
