maybe thats why they seem so elusive, so they try not to change history...maybe these "aliens" are just humans from the future that have evolved over millions of years...any thoughts? what do you think? (by the way, I dont really believe this, I just read this in a book and thought it was an interesting concept)

It would explain the UFO sightings that are elusive. It would not account for the alien abduction experience of many people.
On time travel: many people fail to realize that this depends on how you define the problem. Einstein has already shown that time travel is possible. If we can build anything that can approach the speed of light then any person inside would age at a different rate then we measure time at on earth. Thus, the ship goes out circles the galaxy and you come back and marry your great, great, grandaughters good looking best friend and you are both the same earth age.
Also, look at any star in the sky (don't look directly at the sun) you are seeing it as it was millons of years ago (light only gets to earth so fast) that star may not even produce light any more. We are literally looking into the past.
Until we truly grasp (and learn to make useful) these concepts we can't begin to say (with any real intelligence) that time travel is not possible in the science fiction kind of way. We simply don't have any idea of how to accomplish it at this point in our development and knowledge.
Keep on using both your imagination and knowledge.

I've thought of that before too. Time travel seems about as likely as creatures from another world visting us. (if not more likely) In addition to explaining why UFOs are so elusive, it would also explain why the government would keep knowledge about them secret. Imagine how all the anti-evolution Christian fundamentalists would react to finding out that evolved "humans" from the future were visting us. I don't really believe any of this myself either. More than likely UFO sightings are just misidentified natural phenomena or top secret military aircraft. (thats why so many sightings are around military bases)

Everything is possible, but we may never know. I wish I could meet a time traveler and ask him to take me back in time one week, so I can change the last number of my Lotto Ticket. I missed the last number and nobody won the jackpot.

It would be really cool to think that is what they are but it is not likely, I do like the idea of being able to travel back in time, there is so much I would want to do if that was possible.

That could be very possible but did you ever wonder if it's possible that they are beings from another dimension? Just another possibility.(I always keep an open mind and although I have never seen an "alien" I believe that anything is possible)

Maybe as we can time travel (theory) through black holes, cosmic strings and wormholes, thats why they supposedly come through the sky.
