Yeah, cut a circle out of a paper towel about the same size as a coffee filter and use that for one. It always works for me.

Caffeine can do wonders to the mental processes of many. It also can drive you batty when it is not available. While not listed on the "addictive" banner of products coffee (depending on its strength) can seem to be addictive, but is more so a habitual task for most, myself included.
I have had to use clean dress socks(colorfast only), to multi-layered paper towels (no colors or designs) what you are seeking is a sieve material with the ability to withhold larger bits(aka coffee grinds).
I hope this is an adequate answer to get your day rolling.
Best of luck

Use a paper towel, center it in the basket, put in your coffee, then fold the edges of the towel over the coffee grounds so it doesn't fly all over when the water hits it.

There was a book out about people that acted like McGyver (remember the tv show?). One of the problems was to make a cup of coffee when camping. I think they used the cleanest white sock they could find as a filter.
Wow! 23 answers for a question like this! We are a generous people!

You can scrinkle up a paper towel and it'll work in a pinch...
Or you can make coffee the old "cowboy" way. Put the coffee in a pot, pour in the water and let it come to a boil...then strain out the grounds.

Either go buy some, go get a cup from a gas station or do what I do-"go out to coffee",-is there a restaurant or cafe around? (as much as I go to my "hang-out", I'll get free coffee alot) ........paper towels? I'll have to try that sometime
