When someone says to me that I, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps born of Black American and Native American parentage, should go back to Africa. How assinine is that?

some of my ancestors were the original slaves, the Irish came over as indentured servant. others of my ancestors, like your were already here.
We see a lot of ignorance in the world, and have to wonder about their parentage.
but we also see a lot of love, and that always makes the difference.
so turn you back on those that have that mentality.
and turn to us who love you.

That the favorite racist remark of all.You fought for this country in the marine corps so others wouldn;t have to and you have as much if not more right to be here than anyone else and that;s a fact,I know the government doesn't treat veterans good either ,,I have all respect for people that went in armed services to keep American safe; and then get slapped by some jerk and jerks saying go back to Africa,Those people with those views have no respect for anyone including themselves; so you just have to ignore there racist remarks as their brains are what they sit on.They really need to grow up and get a clue that there talking out of their butt holes ,,,,,,

If that's the case, all Europeans should go back to Europe, all Asians should go back to Asia and all Middle Easterners should go back to the middle east. As quiet as it's kept, you have a right to this country, being Native American. Okay, enough of the sarcasm.

Seriously though, let me say, first of all, thank you for serving and defending this country for my freedom. Second, I'm assuming that you were born and raised here in America. Am I correct? So, if you were born here in America, doesn't that make you an American citizen? Being an American citizen, doesn't that afford you the rights and privileges of being in America? Well, then, the ignorant, narrow- minded people who say these things should shut their mouths and follow the first part of my answer. Peace!!!

Ouch! Just shows ignorance of others doesn't it. My brother, who is half Native American like myself along with other family members liked to use the n-word. My best friend in school was a black guy and I was told if I was dating him I would be disowned...publicly. Later I dated a very awesome black man with some Native American heritage... as so many have since the Natives were slaves too. I was again frowned upon and didn't want to put that poor guy through my family, so I quite seeing him. Now! I have traced the family geneology back and we have "african american" decent...lol... and to make it even better. My brothers tune all so suddenly changed when he got engaged to a girl with a black son. Amazingly some of the same people who were ready to stone me, said nothing. Hmmmm really torks me sometimes. I talk frankly, rub his course little head...and kid with him about how I like rubbing his hair, and his uniquenesses, I don't pretend he is white... because those are his attributes not his race... and my mother gets all offended...lol... what she doesn't get apparently is I have no guilt in knowing him for him... Maybe I'm wrong, but oh well.
Sorry for my ignorance and the ignorance of others :) Maybe there is a question for you, is it offensive to recognize someones heritage and uniqueness? I love it when people say something about me being Indian, I'm proud of it. Why shouldn't he be?

Does that mean I have to be divided into 4 equal parts and sent, to Ireland, France, Germany, and well 1/4 of me can stay here because that part is Native American. Oh, by the way, I was born and raised in the South and that is the most A********thing I have ever heard. The reason people say things like that today is because they don't have a Grandmother like mine, who would have knocked our teeth out for even thinking something like that. Yes she too was born and raised in the South . But we were raised to respect people not colors. By the way: Thinks for our Freedom

It is extremely assinine. Some ignorant people fail to understand that, except for Native Americans, everyone living in this country today can trace their ancestry back to somewhere else. This country is a tapestry, and you deserve honour for your service to it. You're far more of an American than those juvenile persons who say such things to you.

I have never understood this obsession with the part of you which is black, when you inevitably have a lot of white European blood in your make up. It is outrageous for anyone to tell someone of Native American stock to go back to Africa! Especially as I'm sure that you are too polite to suggest that they return to wherever it might be that their ancestors came from. Sheer ignorance!

That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard of. I am someone that thinks illegal immigration is wrong, I believe that it is wrong that people illegally come here and don't pay taxes. I agree with them if they are in life threatening or terrible situations, but if they are not, I am against it. I also believe that if everyone went back to where they came from, America wouldn't be the diverse society, and no one would live here. If I were you, I would be pissed (am I allowed to say that?) God bless you, and thank you for being a veteran of our wonderful country!

Jealousy, I say. Anyone that has the nerve to ridicule another person based upon race and bravery to country, does not have confidence in themselves to achieve anything worth talking about. My husband, who happens to be African American and has Black Foot Indian in him as well, served in the US Army. People like you guys have contributed more to society than most people could say they have. Being black in America is enough, but the military is not for everyone. My uncle, who happens to be Mexican, is a Col. in the Air Force! I dare anyone to tell him where to go!!!! He served his entire life to defend a country that hates his people! He is humble and proud and I look up to him so much. I would say that if you ever hear or read that again, know that as who you are, you have so much more power and with God on your side, you'll never have to rely on revenge!! God Bless and thank you!
