I have never read any of the Harry Potter books. Can you tell me what it is about?

I know it is about wizards or something. But can you give me a plot? Is it any good?

harry Potter is a wizard but he doesn't find out until his 11th birthday. His parents were murdered when he was one yr old by the dark wizard voldemort. Voldemort also tried to kill Harry at this time (for his own reasons which come up throughout the series). Harry survives Voldemort's killing curse and is branded a hero because he is the only one to survuve this curse and also because he "appears" to have killed voldemort in the process. Harry then lives with his aunt and uncle who hate anything to do with magic but they are hos only living relatives so there's not much choice. They pretty much treat him like ****. On his 11th birthday Harry finds out he is a wizard and goes on to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He soon learns that Voldemort is not dead and each book follow with a different adventure of Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione facing Voldemort.

I love the series because of all the little mysteries that pop up and all the little clues that you can find if you look for them. Almost every surprise that JK Rowling puts into the book can be traced to something that happened earlier. I also love the symbolism that Rowling encorporates into the books. Little things like a werewolf's surname being Lupin (the word lupine meaning wolf like). She is just soooo clever. Reading the Harry Potter novels takes me into a totally different world. Rowling writes with such detail but leaves enough to your imagination for you to form your own ideas of how a place or person may look. She is a brilliant author

Harry Potter is a young wizard who goes to wizard school with his friends and learns the tricks of magic. His parents were killed by an evil wizard who is now after Harry. And so they go through some adventures. It is quite entertaining if you like this genre and the movies are very good filled with special effects. You just have to get used to the special language the use and if you want to read or watch Harry Potter I suggest to start from the beginning (Harry and Sorcerer stone) so you don't get lost in the following books or movies about the characters and the plot.

Plot

The final book begins with Voldemort and his Death Eaters at the home of Lucius Malfoy. They are beginning to plan out how to kill Harry Potter before he can be hidden again. After borrowing Lucius's wand, Voldemort kills his captive, Professor Charity Burbage, teacher of Muggle Studies at Hogwarts, for teaching the subject and suggesting that the end of pureblooded wizards was a good thing.
