Well I never thought of it that way. Maybe it is. Or maybe it is actually a way of releasing you sexual tension and also giving your body a way to relax.
I read somewhere that some women masturbate during their period to relieve cramps. It's good for men too because it relaxes them sexually, and also gives them the ability to release old sperm; that may cause defected births.
You reaction to masturbation may be what you where taught as you grew up. masturbation is a good thing, and it is good way to help you relax after a stressful day at work. Though it being a replacement for sexual longing (whether in relation or not) maybe true. Basically even people in relationships sometimes need an extra touch and masturbate.
So masturbation is normal....very normal.
So don't be embarrassed because everyone does it, adn they do it more than you think.

No, it's just part of a natural healthy lifestyle for men.
Lots of men even masterbate when they have a girlfriend. It's just a bonding thing men do with their.....yeah. It releases tension, stress, helps stamina, among other things. Masterbation does not make you lonely, it makes you human!

I'm almost never lonely, but I always make sure I get a session in every once in a while.
A lot of people say 'eww, I would never do that'
...chances are they do. Or that they're asexual.

no it is not. Every human male does it; most more than once a day, do not let anyone tell you anything different. The rumors about masturbation such as "if you masturbate too much your penis will shrink" are ABSOLUTELY FALSE.
