is there anything that stops them from eating the plants and flowers

There's probably some commercial products available, but you might try these. Sprinkle cayenne pepper around your flower bed. Or, go to a beauty salon or barbershop and see if they will give you some of the hair they sweep off the floor. Put small handfuls in a tight weave mesh bag or old pair of pantyhose. Place these around the plants. Most wild animals avoid human contact and will stay far away from their scent. Both of these have worked really for me in the past.

what u can do it build a fence around the flowers and build a scare crow to scare them hope this help bye.

if you do not have pets use a little cayanne pepper that will halt this problem. But it you have pets, avoid this practice as it can be hurtful.
