in our office, network administrator has forbidden downloading or playing media file (like mp3) via internet. how can i play or download music / video file without having administrator's username/password . my windows is XP and has 2 username & password. one for me (as a restericted user) and one for my admin. he can login from another computer into my PC.

unfortunatly I haven't sufficent previlage for installing program.

Let's recap your comments.

1. You are at work being paid to work on your job.
2. Your company owns and pays for the computer, network, Internet access, etc.
3. Your company wants company equipment limited to company use not for unauthorized use. Your company cannot afford to have its network bogged down with unauthorized nonbusiness use. It cannot afford to have it down due to virus attacks either.
4. Your company has an Internet use policy and you signed it when you started as an employee. If it does not have a specific policy, it has a general company equipment use that states all company equipment is for company, not personal use and abuse of this can lead to discharge.
5. People, including you, have abused the Internet access privledge. The ITdepartment is not budgeted to increase capacity and is directed to allocate bandwidth. The IT department installs Web filters which block unauthorized access and monitors employee attempts to access unauthorized access. It has caught several employees and blocked numerous attempts. Severe violators are disciplined; some are fired. The network performs for business use however.

In light of the above, you have been caught and are being watched. You just don't understand and still want to violate use policy. It is now a matter of time.

I suggest you polish your resume on your own time. You will need it. In your next job, comply with the IT use policy.

The way to do this is to buy an MP3 player (Zune, IPod etc.) and load the MP3 files you want to listen to on a computer that you are allowed to use for the purpose.

The reason for not allowing downloads of unknown files from unknown sources based soley on the file having an extension of mp3 is to prevent users from assisting hackers in their ongoing search for ways to bypass network security. Remember if Admin can login remotely, they can also check for new files remotely :)

Using employee habits or friendships to install software or gain information needed to get access is one of the oldest forms of hacking. It is known as Social Engineering.

More important to you, is that with a company policy that unapproved MP3 files are not to be downloaded or played in place, you have a good chance of losing your job for violating a Company Policy meant to keep the corporate network safe.

You would need administrator permission. Lots of companies do this to preserve bandwidth, and to keep folks from downloading viruses into the network. Another thing is, you are on company time, and computer.

I would do as suggested by another in this forum, and use an Ipod, or similar device. Keep your job, don't try overriding the administrator.

ok you wanna play games and listen to mp3.
when you log on the guest or user open MS-Dos or on XP called Command Prompt.
Write: Net user
then: Net user administrator
Then: Net user administrator password (example) Him
and that is gonna be the administrators password
i mean what ever you write after >>Net user administrator password >> will be the password.
and when you do it, it will supposed to right under that u succeeded.. and when you go log off just type the password in and you`ll log on. Good Luck!! (if doesnt work text me ill tell you other way)

Steps for bypassing WebFilters..Unable to bypass BlueCoat WebFilter. BlueCoat WebFilters need many more advance steps.
Ok here are the steps.

1) Imagine the website u wanna go to is youtube.com but its blocked
2) Go to start --> Run -->CMD and type ping "the website u wanna go to" without the "" Eg: ping youtube.com
3) After u pressed enter u will get this :

Pinging youtube.com [208.65.153.251] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 208.65.153.251: bytes=32 time=218ms TTL=242
Reply from 208.65.153.251: bytes=32 time=221ms TTL=242

4) Copy the IP address in the [ ]. Eg: Pinging youtube.com [208.65.153.251] with 32 bytes of data
5) After u have copied the IP, go to the internet browser and paste the IP in the Address bar.

I agree, that's a really dumb idea. The fact that he can log into your PC remotely, probably means he can also see your screen and what you are doing. Multiple failed attempts to download are recorded as well, so he's probably already on to you and your attempts to circumvent the system. It may already be too late for you.

But.
You can go on to a site like, Imeem, Pure volume, etc. and create play lists with user uploaded content.
If those sites are blocked, do what every highschooler does and look up proxies.

Try restarting your computer in safe mode.Go into user accounts & try adding yourself as an administrator also.One administrator can over ride another.
