I mainly need a mp3 for listening to music on the bus or to kill time between classes. I wouldn't mind having the video feature i'm not sure if i'll use it....but who knows?

a) Depends on which country you live in...in some countries, movies TV shows are not available from the itune store. The videos need to be compatible to the ipod. Other files won't work.

b) the screen is very small and unclear to watch the videos...if you think youtube.com is unclear - imagine how small the video ipod screen would be . I better off watching TV shows and videos on my computer instead.

c) Ideally, a 2-4 GB nano is enough - you don't need that many storage in your ipod. You can always back up your songs with a USB. Most often you will get tired of the songs you are listening to.

d) Battery will wear out eventually. Therefore you might need to buy a new ipod later on in life. So back up your songs!

e) new or better improve models will come out in the future.

Conclusion: Go for the nano 2 or 4 Gb

I'd say no. As I've stated in other areas I believe the iPod to be over-rated. For what you want it for you'd be just as well served getting one of the myriad of $100-$150 or under players and saving yourself some cash.
