I heard it was going to be kicked out due to its lack of popularity in most countries? Is this true?

The IOC dropped it from medal competition after the 2008 games, so baseball will not be played in 2012. Whichever body governs international baseball can petition to have the sport reinstated for 2016.

Baseball is a newish sport to the Olympics -- IIRC it was an exhibition in 1988 and first a medal sport in 1992 -- and, yes, it does have limited popularity worldwide. The IOC sometimes reviews the competitions to decide which should stay and which should be phased out in favor of others, perhaps not yet medalist sports. Baseball fell off the table last time.

Every so often they drop or add events to the Olympic rotation. I heard that baseball is not going to be at the 2008 games. It may return in 2012 or 2016

i think of this sucks. Baseball is very straightforward with Latin American worldwide places (Dom Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico, etc...) and enjoyed by making use of a few Asian worldwide places, yet not lots happening in Europe. i think of the Europeans have too lots pull with the IOC and voted it out. One pastime they might desire to do away with comprise the equestrian activities. the horse does each and every of the artwork, plus it relatively is risky (absolutely everyone watch the ESPN :60 show on equestrian injuries?) And who can relatively handle to pay for to do the equestrian activities, different than rich elitist people and Europeans? If we are in a position to circulate the Olympics to the top of October, we are in a position to have MLB communities play, much like how they have NBA gamers and professional tennis stars compete in the Olympics now. That'd definately be nicely worth gazing!
