There is a belt that wraps around the dryer drum and the drive motor. Either the motor has failed OR the belt has either broken or slipped off.

My 1996 Maytag has the original belt and it is still good as new; family of 4. It seems unlikely the motor is bad.

Perhaps the service person did not properly loop the belt in place when you had the last service.

Sounds like the belt either has broken or came off the tension pulley. The dryer has a switch that is supposed to keep it from heating up if the drum doesn't spin so don't run it, it could start a fire. Shouldn't be too hard to fix, unplug the dryer and take the front cover off and look down there and you probably will see the problem. Good luck!

Just a guess. but it sounds like a broken belt. Not too costly or hard to install. See if you can access it from the back or bottom.

The best thing to do would be go to Maytag's website and see if they have an online manual for your machine. It would probably have a "how to" section.

Good Luck!

Sounds as though the heating factor has long previous. Time to purchase a sparkling one. problem with having upkeep completed on electric powered products is the fee of labour often times ability its extra fee-effective to purchase new.

Don't throw good money after bad, get yourself a new dryer, it'll be cheaper in the long run.
