I think it works somewhat but not always. It really hard for me to explain what I think. I dont really know how the system works in other countries either just the US. I know people are represented by a mayor or city council. they are rep. by the governor. they are rep. by a senator. and so on. to the point where the idea of what the person or people wanted is distorted or twisted around. Sometimes it gets through though. I cant accurately judge our political system as a whole because Im not a politician and dont think anybody else can. Unless, they have been apart of it and knows how things really are.Why does the president have to ask congress to do something all the time and vice versa. Shouldnt they be asking the people. I dont know. I support the government but dont always agree with whats going on. I would like express my opinions or ideas if I thought it would help or even get through. Whats your opinion on the matter?

First, good question. Second, not all governments are the same. In the USA, for example we have three branches of the government: 1. Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. Now, one of the reasons you don't like what's going on is that the current administration is not playing by the rules and has control over 2 out of 3 branches meaning that the will of the people (citizens), is ignored and they're own agenda's exercised. In other words, we're screwed. Good luck.

I can't really answer your question as I'm British, but chose to look at your question because I am so unhappy with my government.
As far as our system is concerned, once a party has been voted in, then it becomes an absolute dictatorship - we have no choice or say about anything at all on any level. If I even think of trying to explain further I will bore you to tears or my head will explode. I HATE THEM I HATE THEM I HATE THEM ad infinitum
