It's not a matter of subjective opinion. It's a matter of proven scientific fact. We did land on the Moon.
Contrary to what conspiracy theorists like to say, we don't have to take the government's word about the landings. Consider the following:
1) Apollo 11 left a reflector on the lunar surface. This reflector, which is used to determine the Earth-Moon distance, has been detected thousands of times by astronomers on Earth.
2) Independent radio observatories (even in the Soviet Union) were able to detect the Apollo radio transmissions coming from the Moon. If there wasn't a ship on the Moon, this would not have been possible.
3) The Moon rocks have been positively identified as being of lunar origin.
4) Not a single reputable scientist rejects the lunar landings. Would it not be scientists who would be the first to pick up on discrepancies in the photos or in NASA's claims? Instead, scientists vigorously defend the landings.
Evidence can't get any more incontrovertible than that.
This evidence proves, to the highest scientific standard, that we went to the Moon. There isn't a shred of scientific evidence that says that we didn't go.

Since you are a new member, I can understand why you would ask this here, although it's been addressed so many times already. I must admit that I'm a little surprised at the number of folks who are spring loaded to believe this conspiracy theory. Perhaps the version in the current history books is not sufficiently detailed because it was written by folks that did not understand the technology. Perhaps it's because people are just yearning to debunk established truths because they want to be out front on something.
Either way, I can assure you that it was not fake. Please do not fall for all the stuff out there that is just so shallow. There are plenty of books and websites that address this in detail, but the bottom line comes down to deciding who you are going to believe. My background is as a licensed professional aerospace engineer, former Air Force pilot, and amateur astronomer with graduate work in engineering, physics, and astronomy. I think you will find similar backgrounds among others on this site that hold with my position on this matter. I was there during the space program, which has not continued due to the cutbacks demanded by the very same people that doubt that we ever did it. You can believe us, or you can believe your buddies. It's up to you.

It's not a question of "belief." It's a question of factual reality. Men travelled to the Moon six times, conducted scientific research there, and brought back large samples of lunar rocks, which have been studied extensively by reputable scientists from all around the world, and cannot have originated anywhere on Earth or have been faked in any way.

YES! If you want some personal accounts of the missions, watch the documentary "In the Shadow of the Moon" when it comes out.
It has interviews with the astronauts that traveled to the moon, and speaks on the personal level. I work for NASA and saw a pre-release showing. It was excellent!

You need to do some research. Simply because a few intelligent people formed this crazy conclusion does not mean that it didn't happen. People are always looking for ways to make the government accountable for everything. You should visit the NASA center in Florida. Look at the equipment, listen to the events and afterwards, base your conclusions having all the facts.

there are so many conspiracies its hard to know what to believe. i do believe we have been to the moon because think about it...it would take so much effort to keep everyone involved quiet to cover it up if it really didnt happen. dont u think if it was fake someone involved would have come forward for a big chunk o change...idk just a thought. have a lil faith every now and again. dont be so damn paranoid

might not be initially when we were told we did.
But the modern science is very advanced. I believe we ultimately landed there before closing down the Apollo program.
No body wants the humiliation of not having their flag on the moon when they didn't do it. ultimately other countries will go there and can verify whether we went there or not.
Also the initial landing might have been a surprise for russia, but eventually they would have caught a lie, if we didn't land the rest of our appollo on moon.

You pretty much have to be an idiot not to. Galileo ran into the same kind of opposition when he suggested the earth moves around the sun.

I think the moon shots were abandon because NASA found evidence that the moon was being used as an observation post for Earth, by some life form OTHER THAN HUMAN !

It's true. We did actually go to the moon. We are making huge technological advances that are amazing, so it's not too surprising to me.
