Why Can't People Take A Joke?

I know on Yahoo Answers, People want or need Serious Answers. They have to realise, That People are going to mess about. I know i do.

Depends on how the question is worded, some people just post crap to wind others up.....and alot of it isn't just harmless fun. I can usually see a question for what it is esp on p&s it's usually nonsense on here anyway.

It's cause they might feel destressed about something and want the answer.. Some of these questions are pretty serious ( you can tell if you actually read the whole thing and not just the title. In addition to the content).

So they want a serious answer and not someone basically making fun of them for asking.

Personally I wouldn't like to get picked on for asking a question someone/ may knew.. It's not a good feeling and thats probably why people get angry here when someone messes with them..

That and people just have diferent outlooks on things (aka sense of humor). So what one will find funny the other may/ may-not..

I just answered a question telling about the time I was a bum in the Park, and some guy basically called me a liar, and was trying to sound cool. I'm not sure why people can't take any kind of answers including jokes.

I think as humans we just expect most things to be a lie, and I suppose I can understand that.

Wisdom to know when a person wants a serious answer, is the key. People ask on here because they are more likely to get a speedy answer than in the other categories.

As you said some people come here for serious answers some to have a bit of fun. Sometimes I can't tell which is which and I step in it.

people like that piss me off...
if i wanted a sarcastic as* answer i would go to some joke forum.

the only time i don't appreciate sh*t like that is if its a serious question. if its a bullsh*t question, i could'nt care less.
but when its about my love life or politics, i take it personally.
if someone makes a harmless joke thats fine.
but when they start trying to tell me offensive things, its not helpfull at all.

it really only burns me when its about politics.
tell me your side. i mean Sh*t even if i don't agree with what you say, at least be considerate!

you just make yourself look stupid by making freakin jokes on political subjects.

I'm with you on that one seems like if we try to be funny we neither get deleted or get a bad responses I enjoy jokes because when you laugh you are happy and you can look younger when happy those people will age faster and more sick because our minds if we know how to use it could be useful or useless.bla bla they are not smart enough to see the difference betweet a joke and real life

Yea, you're right. I mean for one question they get about 65% messed up or silly answers and the rest is good answers so why do they get all angry and go Give me nice answers or something. People always mess up and thats what makes them people and not machines. yup, I wanna mess about sometimes too....AND I don't expect people to give me straight answers for silly questions.

Well I think there are a lot of people using yahoo answers with personality disorders ,you can tell the type, the ones who take it all so seriously!! These people wlil never take a joke because they they simply cant.Just enjoy yourself on here regardless and thank your lucky stars you are normal!!

It's very hard to know what's a joke on the internet because knowing social cues, tone of voice, semantics issues, body language, etc, are pretty much hard to do in a social environment where you can hear someone or talk to them face to face.
